Our Journey

Born on the beaches of South West England over 30 years ago, it’s our connection to the ocean that sets us apart. Founded by two surfers with a passion for adventure, what started as a Hook & Loop watch strap has evolved into an iconic journey – channelling our free-spirited spark every step of the way.

We care about our planet, our customers and future generations and are on a journey to becoming an even more eco-friendly and sustainable brand. We want our clothes to last the ride with you and leave less of an impact on the environment.

Today, with every new collection, we’re using more responsibly sourced materials than ever. Product design and style remain at the core of each collection, but we’ve also been working hard to improve the overall quality and durability of our products to extend their lifecycle too. We’re so confident that our products are now better than ever that we’ve introduced a no quibble, 365-day product quality guarantee.

And, when you’ve outgrown your favourite products, we’d like to try and keep them out of landfill and promote a more circular economy amongst our customers. To encourage you to get started, we’ve partnered with reGAIN so that when you’re ready to recycle, you’ll find a mix of exclusive offers to help spark a new Animal adventure.

Our Materials

We believe quality and responsibly sourced materials are fundamental to the people who buy our clothes.

Recycled Fabric – Using recycled materials not only gives them a second lease of life, but also diverts waste from landfill – protecting our oceans, safeguarding the Earth’s resources and preventing waste.
Organic Cotton – Supporting Organic Cotton helps keep waterways and soil clear of harmful chemicals, as well as protecting the welfare of workers. Clothing made from Organic Cotton is grown with less water, free from genetically modified seeds and toxic pesticides.
LENZING™ ECOVERO™ – Developed from renewable wood resources cultivated in responsibly managed forests, LENZING™ ECOVERO™ viscose has up to 50% lower water impact and Co2 emissions than generic viscose fibres. This means that products using LENZING™ ECOVERO™ fibres have a smaller ecological footprint and are fully biodegradable. LENZING™ and ECOVERO™ are trademarks of Lenzing AG.
TENCEL™ Lyocell – TENCEL™ Lyocell fibres are extracted from sustainably grown wood. These fibres use a unique closed loop system which recovers and reuses the solvents used, meaning that they have a much lower environmental impact during production. TENCEL™ is a trademark of Lenzing AG.
100% PFC Free – PFC-free products are an environmentally friendly alternative without compromising on feel or quality of material. PFC can be a pollutant, so making products without it help reduce the possibility of chemicals entering and accumulating in natural soils and water resources.
Econyl® Regenerated Nylon – Products made with Econyl® fibre use regenerated nylon waste that would otherwise pollute the Earth.
PrimaLoft® - The PrimaLoft® family of insulations is widely regarded as the highest-performing on the market, offering comfort and protection in variable weather conditions. Made from 90% -100% post-consumer recycled material - outerwear has never looked and felt this good.
Polartec® - The original synthetic fleece, forever changing what we wear in cold weather. With proven thermal knit technology delivering breathable performance, soft comfort and long-lasting durability. Made from Premium polyester yarns 74% - 100% recycled P.E.T plastic.
YULEX® - CC Closed Cell Foam Rubber - The world's first plant-based replacement for polychloroprene (aka neoprene) closed cell foam.
