Animal introduces: model Martha Bianchi
Meeting for coffee down a pretty side street, away from the bustle of Oxford Circus, we find a quiet spot to catch up with Animal model, Martha Bianchi. From the sunlit climes of Brazil to living it up in London, we find out about life in the fast lane and finding the balance between work and play.
From Brazil to London
Growing up in the seaside city of Maricá, just outside of Rio de Janeiro, Martha began her modelling career when she was spotted at a casting whilst keeping a friend company.
Speaking about Brazil, she tells us:
“I had an amazing time there but after a while it was too small for me, I had big dreams!
“I started out at 19… and I’m now 25 and living in London. I fell in love with the city, definitely”.
From city living to adventures abroad, having the chance to travel feels like a huge bonus of the job. So, top places to visit?
With plenty of spots to choose from, Indonesia is one of her favourites: “I was living in Jakarta, and I went to Bali for four days…it was amazing.” Telling us about what she enjoyed, it seems the chance to experience different cultures and meet people she describes as 'happy' and 'natural' was just one of the reasons why it’s somewhere she’d go back to in a heartbeat. Sounds idyllic!
On set with the Animal team
Martha has been working with Animal for the past year, and most recently to model the SS18 collection as well as the new Active Wear range. We want to talk about what it’s like to work with us!
“I love the lifestyle [Animal] have; the clothes are very chilled. The locations are always amazing. In the last campaign we did something like twelve locations, it was really hard work but I saw beautiful places that I never could have seen.”
Taking time out
We move on from work, to talk chill time at home. “I love to run,” she tells us, “if you give me good trainers and a nice location, I’ll do like 12k. I also love Bikram Yoga as it’s a really nice workout – you really sweat!”
For Martha exercise certainly sounds like a way to switch off from the pressures of day-to-day life, and the chance to forget about castings and appointments, if only just for one session.
Living in London, there are also plenty of green spaces to escape to. “I love to take my dog to the park for a walk, he’s just 5 months old and I’m totally in love with him…I’m crazy about him; he’s the cutest thing ever!”
A sunny outlook
Asking Martha about how she keeps up a healthy lifestyle, it’s clear that keeping fit is just one part of it. “I always try to have a balance” she explains, “I don’t force myself to eat healthily…but for me, the natural foods have more taste.”
‘Balance’ does feel like a buzzword for the day, and we can get on board with that too – whether it’s work and making time for life outside of it, or choosing healthy food options.
So, as we come to the end of our catch up, we end with asking Martha if she has any key philosophies to life…
“Just be happy,” she says. And it’s as simple as that.
