UCI DH MTB World Cup Round 7 – Mont Sainte-Anne
We are down to the second to last UCI Downhill World Cup series, and this time the Madison Saracen team traveled across the Atlantic to Mont Sainte-Anne, Canada. This event proved difficult for the team, and we're hoping they'll go all out to make amends at the final round of the series.
Before we start going through this photo story, it's worth noting that current National Junior Champ Matt Walker sustained an arm injury whilst training just days before departing. Breaking his ulna and radius meant he couldn't compete in Mont Sainte-Anne, all the best for a speedy recovery Matt!
Marc Beaumont was out of luck this time. An unfortunate puncture in the qualification run led to crash which meant he couldn't reach final's day in Canada.
Although she put together a solid race, Manon Carpenter was just a couple of seconds away from a podium finish in the final, and will come away with 4th.
She just about holds on to 2nd place on the rankings, head to head with Tracey Hannah and Tahnee Seagrave, and will look to secure this position in the final stage of the UCI World Cup Series.
Matt Simmonds suffered from a couple of mistakes in his run, which put him about 15 seconds behind eventual winner Danny Hart. He'll come away with a 52nd place finish and now sits 27th in the rankings.
We look forward to seeing the team hit Vallnord, Andorra on September 3-4th for the 7th and final series of the UCI Downhill World Cup. Hoping for some solid results to finish the season off guys!
