We're just under a month away from one of the biggest wakeboarding events taking place in the UK, the Plastic Playground Wake Park Championships. Animal advocate Steph Caller was one of the lucky riders getting invited to compete among the world's best wakeboarders.

We've asked her to give us the lowdown on what to expect.

I’m really excited to have been invited to ride at this summer’s Plastic Playgrounds event at Liquid Leisure wakeboard park in London. This is one of the biggest events of the wakeboarding season and a real privilege to have got an invite.

2016 marks the first year that Plastic Playgrounds has had a female category, so I’m even more pumped to be one of only 2 girls (along with Megan Barker) representing from the UK. With 30 male and 30 female confirmed riders invited from around the Globe, it is set to be an epic event.

Steph is very much looking forward to having home court advantage at one of the biggest wakeboarding events in the UK.

It’s a features only contest, which means boat and cable wakeboarders are on an even playing field, as air tricks don’t count. The comp will have a 2 run format, with your best pass determining your final position. With so many amazing riders in one park and so many great obstacles, I think the level of creativity is going to be insane - I can’t wait to see what people will be throwing down.

Having recently moved to London, Liquid Leisure is only a 30 min drive from my flat, so it couldn’t really be better timing. It’s now my local park and I have been riding there about 3 times a week since the start of April… so no pressure!!

The event will be running over the course of a week: 11th-17th July 2016. If you get the chance to head down it should be well worth it. Tickets and more info at http://www.plasticplayground.co.uk/.

There will be public riding every evening from 5pm after the comp and the Pro finals will be on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th.
