Martyn Ashton inspires in Down Not Out
A Mountain Bike Party
Animal legend and former World Champion trials rider Martyn Ashton (read profile) is back on the bike for his biggest challenge yet - a rip-roaring ride down one of the world’s most challenging downhill bike race courses at the UCI Downhill Mountain Bike World Cup, in Fort William, Scotland.
The paraplegic mountain biker has not let his life changing injury hold him back and, refusing to take his disability too seriously, Martyn has once more rounded up friends from the riding community to help complete his latest film project, produced by Global Mountain Bike Network.
Internationally renowned trials rider Danny MacAskill, 2014 downhill World Champion (and one-time Animal teammate) Gee Atherton as well as the legendary voice of Rob Warner all feature in this epic display of skill from the Porthcawl man, who received additional support in filming from the British Army Enduro MTB Team.
Riding a specially modified mountain bike from Canyon for the project, this is Martyn’s first film since 2015’s awe inspiring Back on Track. Pushing himself further and farther than ever before, Down Not Out is by far and away the most fun anyone has had on the gruelling Fort William track!
The 4 times Trials Mountain Biking British Champion said:
“I wanted to show how you can overcome massive challenges in life, and still have amazing fun. In the first few days after my accident in 2013 I began working out how to get back on a bike".
"Once I had done that, the next question was where could I possibly ride? The Fort William course is so iconic and challenging, that this started off as a joke, but quickly became a reality. It was exhilarating and tough but I loved every second.”
We love it too Martyn. This is Down Not Out – Mountain Bike Party.
