Corinne Evans' Maldives surf camp!

29 Oct

First off, how was the trip? Can you tell us a little about the waves you surfed, the amazing Maldivian natural environment and its pristine weather conditions?

The trip was epic! I didn't want to leave.

We scored some really good waves and we had great swell the entire time, perfect conditions for the ladies taking part.

How did your girls enjoy the experience?

The girls had a great time. I think I can speak for them as say it was up there as one the their best surf trips yet. For one of the girls it was her first time surfing in a bikinis and on reef.

Can you tell us a little bit more about the idea behind the camp?

I basically wanted to expand my girls' surf tour a little. I work a lot in the UK and predominantly with beginner surfers, heading out to the Maldives allowed me to push my surf coaching and work with ladies at an intermediate level. I felt it was a natural progression for the surf tour and I can't wait to host more progression surf camps.

We’re very familiar with the popular Surf Bettys events in the UK, was this an extension of the same concept? Was it your first time doing something like this in the Maldives?

It was my first time hosting a surf event in the Maldives. I was a little nervous about the event but it was a huge success, so much so that I will be back again next year.

How many times have you been to the Maldives now? Aren’t you getting bored of it?

This my third time in the Maldives and no I am not getting board. How could you get board of perfect waves and sunshine? I would go back every year I could!

What have you got planned for the next few months?

I've just got back from France with GoPro and now I am off the London for the London Surf Film Festival so showcase Matungou - A edit I am featured in from my recent trip to the Mentawai Islands. After this I am home for a couple of weeks then I am heading out to Ireland to host my first Women's Cold Water Surf Session of the year.

When’s your next camp in the Maldives? Can we come? How can one get involved?

I am in the process of planning the next one and will be having some exciting meetings soon to confirm it all and the more the merrier but I am afraid they are girls only surf camps haha :)
