Manon Carpenter shines at UCI World Championships
It’s been a challenging year for Manon Carpenter. After a big fall in Fort William (GBR) that saw her take 4th place 23 seconds behind the eventual winner, she copped a DQ right at the end of her run in Leogang (Austria) as she landed her last table-top jump into the course tape and poles.
In the face of adversity, she picked herself up and was on a tear from then on. The backend of the season has seen a revitalised Manon, going on to take four consecutive 2nd places and pushing Rachel Atherton all the way in the World Cup Series.
As ever, the last race of the season was the World Championships. Held at Vallnord in Andorra, the track was changing constantly and there was no room for error. Manon didn’t disappoint.
She showed the same grit again, putting together a great run, riding on the limit and taking on the toughest track of the year to secure runner-up position not only in this race but also in the World Championships Rankings.
Here’s what Manon had to say:
“Rounding off my year as 2014 World Champ with a silver medal. It's been a steep learning curve but 2nd place World Cup Overall and 2nd at World Champs is nothing to complain about!! Looking forward to off season now and making lots of plans for 2016”.
A huge congratulations to Manon from all the team at Animal, we're proud to have you as part of the family!
