Predominantly what attracts the 70,000 attendees to RIAT, Europe’s largest military air show is seeing things in the air, going fast and making tons of noise. Well, along with aircraft these attributes can also be attributed to the Action Sports Tour making it a perfect addition to the calendar!

With over a decade of evolution The Actions Sports Tour rig is pretty dialled, and is widely regarded as the best mobile set up in Europe. The show has attracted some of the worlds best athletes, boasting performances from the likes of Grant Fielder, Sam Pilgrim and Danny MacAskill. To join the list of greats who have graced the show is considered to be quite a prestigious honour. It’s this prestige which has seen the show attend some of the largest events and festivals in the world. With James Jones taking a weekend off to bring home 2nd in BMX dirt at NASS (congrats bro!) and Blake on the road to recovery from a broken leg we offered the jump rider spot to 20 year old Tom Cardy.

Tom has been on our radar for a while, putting out edits that have been raising eyebrows in the 2 wheeled community and has caused some interest in the Animal office too!

With P20 weather and strong support from the crowds most forgot about the World Cup final, the real match was at RAF Fairford.

Straight off the bat, planes the size of houses made 50º rolling banked turns, but Tom quickly answered back by rolling out some of the smoothest style mountain biking I’ve seen in a while; delivering strong defence through the midfield and into the box with back flip no hander to flair combos.

Red arrows filled the sky in precision formation and with unbelievable control, while on the ground Sam Oliver showed a similar prowess as he worked the his trials magic through the challenging features of the rig - going balance beam, hangman bars, jump ramp to nose 360º.

The ground shook and our ear drums were vibrated to pretty much the limit by the euro fighter but Robin answers back by turning the VOID sound system up to 11 and playing the Top Gun soundtrack.

At the end of an exciting weekend it was declared a draw but the official winner was RIAT!

Don’t worry if you missed the match as we’re back on the road and hitting the streets of Manchester on the 19th of July.
