James Jones and Anton McGuirk headed out last weekend for the FISE world Montpellier BMX. For James it was his first time at FISE and we believe it may have been his first time abroad! Since their return we asked the duo a few questions.

FISE looks epic every year, was this your first time out there?
A: No, Thankfully it wasn’t my first time. FISE is probably one of the best contests around, and being in one of the best cities in France it makes it a much better time. Amazing weather and great times with friends, what else could you want? :D

J: FISE is epic every year haha! It was my first time and it did not disappoint. The whole scenery and contest was insane!!!

How did it go?
A: FISE went really well, unfortunately I didn’t make finals due to falling in my run and also having less than 2 hours to get used to the course. That didn’t go well :( Hopefully next time I will be a lot more prepared!

J: To be fair it went better than I could ever have expected. I qualified 14th so got through to the semi-finals. Overall I came 21st out of 103 riders and in the spine mini contest I came 14th :)

A lot of big names compete in Montpellier every year, who do you look forward to riding with most?
A: This year it has to be either James Jones, or Alex Coleborn. Both two amazing riders. They made my time in FISE Amazing, thanks boys.

It looks like you and two boys have a little bit of a team BROmance going on, how’s that working out?
A: HAHA! Me and ginger boy! Yeah we do, he's such a cool guy and is one hell of a rider to back it up! Hopefully me and James can find some spare time and film and edit real soon. #Sendhimhomewallyboy

Aside from the comp what antics did you two get up to? Keep it clean
A: Me and James Spent a lot of the time in Montpelier Walking around, getting photos and hanging out with friends. To be honest, it was around 29 degrees and James and I have ginger skin so we spent hours laying ourselves with suntan lotion!

Best trick from the trip in comp or out
A: Alex Coleborne: 180 barspin to Canadian footjam to tailwhip in. DESTROYER!

J: Alex Coleborne in the finals: Double tail whip air to barspin! Now that is crazy!

Can you tell us a bit about the FISE Park as all the photos looks epic
J: The course was ridiculous, everything was just so big! It worked for everyone, people had different styles and people did their own thing.

FISE

Did you get time to watch any other events?
A: Hell yeah! Me and James sat and watched Flatland BMX and also wakeboarding. It looks so much fun! I wouldn’t mind trying it myself someday.
We’ve just seen this pic of the crowds, how was it riding in front of that little lot?

A: The crowds at FISE are absolutely amazing. Every year it keeps getting bigger and bigger and hopefully keeps on going too! Great atmosphere and amazing people, thanks Montpellier!

Finally any last words
A: Yeah for sure, I would like to thank my sponsors for helping me get there, @totalbmx and @animal_uk and I would like to thank my Mum, Alan and brother for all the support towards riding. Also, William Glaziel. He is one of the best people around and helps the riders so much at FISE and thanks again to animal for doing this interview.

J: Yes big up to Animal for getting me out to FISE because if I didn't go I wouldn’t have experienced what I did. Words can’t describe how stoked I am for going to that contest!

Peace!
