Competition

And the winner of our #WinWhistlerHelmet competition is...

When we found out we could run a competition on the back of Martyn Ashton’s Whistler edit, we were stoked. When we found out it involved winning a custom POC helmet designed by no other than Animal collaborator Iain Macarthur, we just couldn’t be more excited.

An epic prize inspired by an absolute legend of the sport. What more could you ask for!

So whilst we could have randomly selected any entry to win, we wanted to see more. We wanted you guys to get your hands dirty and show us what you got, and the best way to do this was for you to submit your own antics.

Life is busy for most, and a 3 week window isn’t long to fit this in, but your response was amazing and in the end, we had 326 entries to go through and consider for the win.

We kept the brief loose, as we wanted to see you guys get creative and really showcase what mountain biking meant to you. The result was out of this world, with entries from frothing grommets and seasoned vets, to girl power advocates and technical rippers. We had heavy wipeouts, muddy puddles, sketchy bangers and inspirational stories; literally the full spectrum!

To make the prize a little sweeter, we thought we’d give the competition one last twist. We decided the winner would be picked by the man himself, and so we sent Martyn a shortlist of our favourite entries.

So without further ado…

CONGRATULATIONS KORINNE SHAW!

Nearly a year since I got into downhill.. It's been a hell of a ride so far with loads of thrills (and spills πŸ™„) along the way. It's certainly not something I find easy and things don't seem to click as quickly as they do with other people but I'm always so excited to get out on my bike, go to different places, push my boundaries that little bit further and meet new friends EVERY time... All whilst having fun... Ahhh I love this sport. πŸ’πŸΌπŸ’–πŸ’£πŸ”₯ . . @uberbikecomponents // @lakescycles // @mucoff // @armavelo // @animaluk #shredlikeagirl #foxwomens #justgonnasendit #downhill #shredsisters #mucoff #fivetens #mymaxxis #mondrakerbikes #AnimalUK #WinWhistlerHelmet #ride100percent #ilabbfamily #girlswhoride ..

You have won yourself a custom POC Coron helmet, designed to your brief by Iain Macarthur!

We’re loving the feels on this, and your description of the sport is bang on. In Martyn’s very own word, you’re rad! Keep up the good work.

Simply send us what you’d like on your helmet to marketing@animal.co.uk and we’ll do the rest.

  • Whilst this probably won't be the most amazing video to grace the @animaluk #AnimalUK #WinWhistlerHelmet competition I think it is a good place to share a story about being passionate for something. I love mountain biking, I've been riding since before I could walk, raced cross country from the age of 3 and have generally loved the sport for as long as I can remember. I've used it to make money for various charity close to my heart, my dad has begun to make a career out of it recently and I've also used it to clear my head when I get stressed (which happened a lot while I was recently writing my PhD thesis). Nothing beats the feel of adrenaline while you are riding techy downhills or the feeling of weightlessness when you fly off a jump.

  • Before you go, we wanted to take this opportunity to thank you, the MTB community, for three decades of dedication. Our passion for the sport is still very much alive, so let’s keep the good times rolling.
